There will be approximately 146 pet lots available. Each lot will be four feet by five feet in size, inclusive of the grave marker. The City will charge a fee of $40.00 per Pet Lot. All pets must be buried within the confines of the owners’ Pet Lot(s). Upon fee payment, a lot location will be assigned and the owner recorded in a directory maintained by the City showing the ownership of the plots and the locations of graves and markers.
(Ord. 1595; Code 2015)
The depth of each individual pet grave must allow for a minimum of twelve inches of dirt or concrete over the top of the burial container. The City is responsible for digging the grave and burial. The grave must be inspected by the City both before and after burial for compliance with City ordinance
(Ord. 1595; Code 2015)
Any pet buried in the Pet Cemetery must be contained in a sturdy burial container constructed of wood, heavy plastic, metal, bio-degradable cardboard or some other material deemed suitable by the City. Any container made from or partially of glass will not be accepted as a suitable burial container. Any pet that has been cremated must have the ashes contained in a burial container as outlined above. A maximum of two (2) pets may be buried in each individual lot at no additional charge for the second pet.
(Ord. 1595; Code 2015)
Every lot must have a grave marker for each pet buried in the lot. The grave markers will be provided at the owner’s expense and must fit within the pet lot’s boundary. The grave markers must be made of a permanent type of material such as concrete, granite, marble, or a synthetic long-lasting material. Pet grave markers from the previous Pet Cemetery will be moved to the new Pet Cemetery at no cost to pet owners for this service.
