That the City of Stockton, Kansas hereby establishes and designates a Veterans Cemetery within the boundaries of the Stockton Cemetery for the purposes of burial of United States Military Veterans.

The Veterans Cemetery shall be located in Block 38, Lots 1, 2, 3, & 4 of the City of Stockton Cemetery as shown in the Cemetery plat.

A United States Military Veteran must be a resident of Rooks County, Kansas, and must meet one or more of the following requirements to be buried within the Veterans Cemetery:

(a)   The veteran must have been discharged from the United States military from “active duty” under other than dishonorable conditions;

(b)   The veteran died while on “active duty";

(c)   National Guard or Reservist members with at least 20 years of qualifying service who are entitled to retired pay or would be entitled, if at least 60 years of age.

The spouse of any veteran that meets the requirements herein shall be eligible for burial in the Veteran Cemetery in the same space as the veteran.

The burial lot shall be provided to the veteran at no cost.  The grave opening and closing charges as provided for in 12-104 shall be waived for the veteran’s burial.  The grave opening and closing charges for any spouse shall be paid as provided for in 12-104.

Except for, as provided for in Sections 12-601 et seq., the provisions of Sections 12-101 et seq. shall apply to the Veterans Cemetery.
